25th Annual New Year’s Day 5K Run/Walk

Kick off 2010 on the healthy footing at the New Year’s Day 5K Run & Walk–Chicago’s first official 5K running event of 2010! This iconic annual run/walk — now celebrating its 24th year — is a fave with Windy City sports enthusiasts!
An estimated 1,500 runners and walkers are expected to lace up on the first day of the New Year at the run & walk that starts at the south end of Lincoln Park. The course route winds north along the lakefront bike path to Diversey Harbor before returning to the North Avenue Field House.
A portion of run/walk proceeds will benefit the Lake View Citizens’ Council, a non-profit neighborhood organization.

Join Washington Township Parks & Recreation, Hamilton County Parks, and the City of Westfield for the 5th Annual Race to the New Year! The race is a 5k run/walk through Cook Creek Park. This year’s event will take place on January 2nd, 2010 at 9:30am. Each participant will receive an official “Race to the New Year” t-shirt. Early bird registration is $15.00 (postmarked) by December 21st. After December 21st, the fee is $20.00. You may register the day of the event. Participants who register after the 21st are not guaranteed a shirt. In case of extreme weather conditions, the event may be cancelled and your registration fee will be accepted as a generous donation to the Parks Department.
